These are our focal steps for our Intermediate and Beginner Technique classes this May😊 Each month we choose a handful of focal steps to learn throughout the Thursday lessons. We prepare for these movements at the barre and then break the steps dow
These are our focal steps for our Intermediate and Beginner Technique classes this May😊 Each month we choose a handful of focal steps to learn throughout the Thursday lessons. We prepare for these movements at the barre and then break the steps down in detail before incorporating them into our centre choreography. Our selected focal steps always complement our Variation of the month (which we learn on Sundays). Thursday classes focus on the technical aspects of the variation so that our Sunday classes become a space to focus on your artistry and performance :) The Technique classes adopt an open class format, with different choreography and exercises each week, but our focal steps provide a degree of intentional repetition, this helps to naturally embed these movements into your muscle memory. If you are a beginner trying to learn ballet vocabulary, our focal steps also offer a manageable way to direct your focus each lesson. We aim to teach 4-5 focal steps in detail each month :) So if you attend both our Thursday and Sunday classes each week, you’ll definitely be well on your way to adding to your ballet knowledge, terminology and ability to connect these steps together in choreography :)

✨Variation of the Month - May ⭐️ Our new variation starts Sunday 5 May! Join us to learn this routine over the course of four weeks, with an optional mini solo or group performance in class in Week 4. (Intermediate and Beginner class options available). Swipe to the final slide to see this variation performed by Gudrun Bojesen from the Royal Danish Ballet. This piece is short but quite the challenge! It is the first time we will be teaching Bournonville, characterised by fast footwork and known for being a little tricky and tiring! But given the routine is about 1 minute long, we will have lots of time for practice and repetition over the course of the month. Whilst the style may be somewhat different than what you are used to, we think you are all up for the challenge :). It’s a great month to focus on jumps, petit allegro and batterie will be the focus of our technique classes throughout May - stay tuned to see our focal steps. Our final few Earlybird packages are on sale until the end of Sunday 28 April :). There is an Intermediate Package (5 Masterclasses), Beginners Package (5 Masterclasses) and Full Course package (10 Masterclasses). Here they are working on this month’s routine - a little tricker because it makes use of alignments, requires quite a bit of upper and lower body coordination and even includes some jumps and single leg balances.
